Festive Sparklers

Sparkling wine is the liquid equivalent of a candle. Most wines are boring to look at, like artificial light. But seeing those streams of tiny bubbles racing up the glass then exploding on the surface activates something deeper inside us that stirs the soul, like when we light a candle and watch the flame dance in the dark, creating shadows on the walls.

The first sip lights a fuse that detonates a pleasure bomb in our brains.

We tend to associate sparkling wines with the warmer months of the year, quaffing Prosecco like it’s Cherryade (remember that!) as the bright sun keeps us company until night falls.

But it’s in the winter time that we really need the pick me up that only Fizz provides. Whether it’s that certain Italian sparkler or Spanish Cava, English Sparkling wine or Champagne, it’s guaranteed to warm the soul and bring joy during the darker days.

I can’t wait to share with you a selection of my favourite sparklers from around the world, all of which are perfect for the festive season.

The tasting lasts two hours, and nibbles are included. Please arrive at 7pm for a 7.15pm start.
