Giving hospitality a helping hand

We were delighted to participate in a WSET Help for Hospitality event at the University Arms in Cambridge on Monday 24 May. The event was designed to provide entry-level training for young professionals looking to further their careers in hospitality, and we delivered the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines course to a group of 14. In addition, the Cambridge Distillery delivered the Level 1 Award in Spirits qualification at a separate event on 17 May.

Steve Hovington, owner of Cambridge Wine Academy, was pleased to give something back to a sector that has been hit hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic. ‘When we were approached by WSET to see if we’d be prepared to deliver a level 1 course, we jumped at the opportunity,’ comments Steve. ‘We know how hard the hospitality sector has been hit, and we were very keen to provide free training to young professionals within the Cambridge area whose job prospects had been impacted by Covid-19. The feedback we received was excellent, so we hope that we’ve done our little bit to help kickstart their careers and bring some positivity and enthusiasm back to the city’s hospitality businesses.’
